For a safer, fairer, more secure Ireland
Law and Order
The fact that many citizens do not feel safe in our cities coupled with rising crime statistics mean that we must take a transformative approach to crime and security in Ireland.
We will work to restore law and order to our urban and rural communities. Independent Ireland’s domestic policing policy focuses on improving retention and recruitment within An Garda Siochana by taking a realistic look at the issues faced by front line Gardai and by helping to address their concerns while supporting the Gardai to do what they do best - Detecting and preventing crime.
Community policing, early intervention and prevention are key pillars of our policy. We also believe in the importance of free speech as a fundamental right that must be protected. We oppose the proposed hate speech legislation in its current format.
