Register Now for The National Protest Against Mercosur

Standing up for Irish agriculture, food standards, and rural communities

Irish farmers and rural communities are being asked to carry an unfair burden under the proposed Mercosur trade deal. The agreement threatens farm incomes, undermines Irish and EU food standards, and places rural livelihoods at risk.

A national, peaceful protest is being organised for Athlone Co. Westmeath on 10th January 2026 to send a clear message: Irish agriculture, rural communities, and food security must be protected.

To ensure the protest is safe, well-coordinated, and well organised, we are asking those planning to attend to register in advance.

Why we are asking you to register

This registration is not political campaigning. It is a practical step to:

  • Estimate overall attendance

  • Coordinate arrivals and transport

  • Liaise responsibly with local authorities and emergency services

  • Ensure a safe and peaceful gathering for everyone

Accurate information helps organisers plan stewarding, traffic management, and assembly points, particularly where farm machinery and large vehicles are involved.

For clarity: registration is not mandatory to attend the protest. It is simply to allow us to prepare and organise properly in advance as best as possible. It is incumbent on organisers to do everything possible to ensure peoples safety.

Who should register

Please complete the form if you are planning to attend as:

  • A farmer

  • A rural resident

  • A business owner

  • A supporter of Irish agriculture

  • An individual, family, or organised group

Whether you are travelling by tractor, car, bus, train, or on foot, your details matter for planning purposes and to help ensure the safety of attendees, local residents and all involved.
