Cllr O’Reilly earned the highest number of first preference votes in the Ballyjamesduff electoral area in the local elections in May 2019.

Shane is a man of compassion, the married dad-of-five understands family and family values, while regularly supporting people at their lowest ebb due to his daily role as a Funeral Director.

He is record breaking in that has served as Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council twice - 2014 and 2019 - all before reaching the age of 40 and was elected on the first count in the 2019 local elections. Cllr O’Reilly is a firm believer in positive engagement and positive action in his community.

On joining Independent Ireland Cllr. O’Reilly said “All across Ireland there is a mood for real change, I firmly believe that with Independent Councillors, TD’s, Senators and new candidates coming together, we can deliver a real choice and implement the real change that so many people are looking for.
